Western Digital RE2 GreenPower has managed to reduce the power consumption than the other hard disk drives. This has been not only done on the hard disks with small capacity, but also with high end storage devices. I wonder how could they do this without compromising the disk drives performance.
But, one of the demerits i have found is that it is slower than other hard disk drives. Anyway this is not a problem since we should give first preference to the energy consumption rather than to the speed of it, however the speed is not that slow.
