Toshiba A305D Review

Toshiba’s laptops are always known for their excellence and the A305D is definitely one that is made for excellence. This notebook is often overlooked because of the presence of the A305 model which has an Intel processor to its name - the A305D comes with an AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core TL-64 2.2GHz processor. Nevertheless, the A305D is worth the consideration since Toshiba will not launch a product that will not come at par with its brand.

Design

Fusion finish is what Toshiba has incorporated to this laptop. This fusion finish is what is first noticed with the laptop since everything is just glossy – screen cover, palm rest, keyboard keys, etc. Since Toshiba is very well-known for its durability, you can expect the same kind of durability with the A305D model. Scratches on a laptop’s cover will be a thing of the past since the trademark finish of Toshiba just does not allow it on their notebooks. The build of the A305D is also outstanding yet some areas, specifically the plastic areas, need some improvement since it tends to be shaky.

Performance

Some people say that A305D has compromised the performance of its older brother, the A305 and while this may be true, the A305D will deliver most of the basic computing needs that the user may require and possibly even more. Its processor is arguably the basis for this belief, but AMD’s performance is very much acceptable for this laptop.

Screen & Sounds

The screen of the A305D is glossy but it well beyond the average for its bright backlight. The colors displayed are also very vibrant and viewing angles are adequate. The keyboard and touchpad of the A305D is also glossy and is suitable for long use. One disadvantage of the keyboard is that it does not have a backlight.
Sound quality of the A305D is perfect for watching movies and even gaming. Bass can be clearly identified and no distortion can be distinguished in its sound.

Heat, Noise & Battery Life

Compared to the A305, heat is not a problem with the A305D. Even after prolonged use, the notebook still felt cool. Noise generated by the fan is tolerable, as well. Battery life is just right since the notebook can run up to a maximum of 3 hours with standard settings.

Conclusion

If you want to venture out into the processing powers of AMD, this is definitely the notebook to get.
